Stock images of Scotland in winter. Where has it gone? I miss it already! OK, its sunny today and nice to be outside but, like most other landscape photographers, I love it when the snow is on the ground and the trees sparkle with hoar-frost.

A Winters Day of Photography in Stirling

An account of one winter's day of stock photography in Stirling, Scotland. The 7th of December 2010 dawned bright and cold and saw me standing on Abbey Craig near the Wallace Monument in temperatures of -12°C watching and waiting for the light. So began an intense day, not only of freezing temperatures, but of hard work slogging through deep snow, carrying my gear and trying to keep fingers and toes warm. I'm not grumbling though, it was great fun!

Ochil winter sunrise

A winter sunrise from the Ochils image. The forecast was for cloud heading in from the west around sunrise, which if the timing was right could give some stunning skies. Well, it didn't turn out quite like that but I did manage one shot as the sun rose above the horizon and just before it was obscured by cloud.
