Rannoch Moor tree
It is with a certain amount of sadness, OK, I’m gutted, that I have to report that a tree on Rannoch Moor that has appeared in many of my pictures over the years has succumbed to the strong winds blasting across Scotland this week. As reported and photographed by DuncanDisorderly on the talkphotography.co.uk forums this famous tree is no more. It has been felled and now lies on it’s little island in Lochan na h-Achlaise, twisted and torn. It’s a sad sight. RIP.
I guess it’s a scene that is (was) done to death, form an orderly queue at dawn and place your tripod here! I did have a few solitary dawn forays on Rannoch though, mainly in winter and they are treasured memories – it’s a wonderful place.
To see other pictures of this tree and Rannoch Moor, perhaps to buy a print or purchase a licence see my Rannoch Moor Image Gallery.

Sad news indeed.
Though at least it was felled by the wind, not by a chainsaw.
Yes, at least there is a natural order about it. It’s odd though – last Monday I saw loads of trees down in Central Scotland but none pulled at the heartstrings like this one.
