Here you can find links to my favourite software producers, websites for digital photography and Scotland plus our book publisher.

IMatch – A Digital Asset Management program. I use this software to catalogue and keyword my images. I can quickly find any image required for editing in Photoshop, writing to a CD or sending to a client.

Silkypix – Silkypix Developer Studio is my preferred method of processing RAW files. The workflow and interface is not that great but the superb conversions and faithful colour more than make up for that.

Photoshop – The benchmark for digital manipulation – the digital darkroom.

Interesting websites

PhotoShelter – “PhotoShelter is the industry standard for online archiving, distribution and sales of images for the independent professional photographer”.

I use Photoshelter to host my images, seamlessly intergrating their services into Scot-image.

The  Wee Calendar Company – The ‘Wee Calendar Company’ publishes a range of small desk calendars for local areas throughout Scotland.  The company annually uses many of my images.

Picture Research Association – The PRA is an organisation for media professionals involved with images. Among many services for members, publishers and employers are a magazine, bulletin, and a freelance register for those seeking work.

Photographer’s Index – The internet directory for photography. An online resource for photographers and picture buyers.

Luminous Landscape – Information and inspiration on one feature packed website by Michael Reichmann.

Sunflower Books – Our guide, Landscapes of Slovenia is just opne of a wide range of walking and touring guides.

Slovenia-walking – our companion website for our Slovenia walking guide. Lots of extra information, hints and tips for the visitor to Slovenia plus lots of pictures.

Good reading

The Scottish Field magazine – Monthly magazine with features from around Scotland and of Scottish interest. I’m proud to say that my images have appeared on the cover many times.

This site is a combination of visitor guide, accommodation listing and business directory, and aims to show you what the country is really like.  A great resource for anyone interested in Scotland.

The Caledonian Kitchen Recipe BookThe Caledonian Kitchen – “The Caledonian Kitchen is a collection of recipes from around Scotland to help raise funds for Action Duchenne, the UK charity working towards finding a cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.”

Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) is a heartbreaking disease. Children begin to see their muscles waste away and families struggle to cope with the diagnosis and day to day management of this condition. Young men die early in late teens or are left wheelchair bound and unable to move unaided. The hope for families lies in new treatments that can slow or stop DMD in its tracks.

Please, please, take a look at the Caledonian Kitchen recipe book – they make ideal gifts, so why not buy one for family or friends and help raise funds.  Thank you.

Lowepro camera bags – I own 6 Lowepro bags including 3 of their excellent rucksacks. Why the link? Well, the zip on my 3 year-old Lowepro Nature Trekker AWII had weakened and was in danger of breaking. After sending an email to Lowepro and returning the rucksack, I soon took delivery of a brand-new replacement bag. No charge, no hassle. Now that is what I call fantastic service!! Thank you Lowepro.
