Political Party signs on lamp-post. 2005 General Election

I don’t know what it is like where you live but there are no political party signs in the lead up to the 2010 General Election in my home town. In 2005 every lamp-post was festooned with the things!

I’ve written twice to my MP now and have just given one of his campaigners an earful – he was just canvassing for my vote!

Longannet Power Station, Carbon Capture & Storage

Licence this image of Longannet Power Station.

“Scottish Power has won “tens of millions of pounds” in government funding to develop new technology to tackle climate change”, so reports the BBC.

Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) removes carbon produced by coal-fired power stations and then stores it underground. In the case of Longannet, the carbon will be stored under the North Sea in old gas reserves or non-porous rock. It is hoped to remove 50% of the carbon produced.

I haven’t managed to get out on the tops since November ‘09 but this picture (a self-portrait) brings back some happy memories of the North Shiel Ridge a few years ago.

This looks interesting – content aware fill. It may be coming up in Photoshop CS5 and looks as though it might be worth the upgrade fee alone! It appears to be a great tool for dust spotting on detailed areas as well as actually removing objects from the scene.

It’s really hard to choose just ten as there are so many more that I could include. Corgarff Castle above didn’t make it into the gallery but gets a pic anyway! One notable exception is Craigievar Castle – a definite favourite but all my images are now out of date as the external harling has been replaced and repainted (2009-10). I’ll return in May, hopefully, to take some new pictures
