Like painting the Forth Rail Bridge

Tuesday, February 19th, 2008

Well, not anymore!  When the present paint job is completed in 2012 the world famous Forth Rail Bridge should not need painting for another 25 years, perhaps even as long as another 40 years, thus putting an end to the meaning of the phrase “like painting the Forth Rail Bridge”

The Forth Rail Bridge is an iconic image of Scotland.  For the photographer, the bridge’s structure and colour make it a great subject, and when viewed against either the sunrise or sunset it is quite stunning.

Hogmanay in Scotland

Friday, December 21st, 2007

It’s too late to catch the last post for Christmas but I’m getting in the spirit of things now!  Many towns and cities in Scotland make a big effort to celebrate Hogmanay.  Edinburgh’s Hogmanay party is world famous and has some great photo opotunities, but seeing in the New Year on Stirling Castle Esplanade is pretty special too.  For something different, visit Stonehaven in Aberdeenshire to see the Fireball ceremony.
