Teampull na Trionaid, North Uist

Teampall na Trionaid (Trinity Temple), Cairnish, North Uist, Western Isles, Scotland.

The Scottish government has given Teampull na Trionaid Conservation Association £194,000 to stabilise the remains of the medieval church on North Uist. It’s a lovely spot and, I for one, am glad that it is being looked after. More details here from the Stornoway Gazette My one and only picture – Click on the image [...]

Stock images of Ireland

Poulnabrone Dolmen (Poll na mBron) and rainbow, the Burren, Ireland.

As it’s St Patrick’s day today, I thought I’d show off a few images from our autumn trip to Ireland last year. We spent a month travelling along the west coast from Malin Head in the north to the Ring of Kerry in the south. We saw some amazing sights but some of the highlights [...]

Scottish Field Magazine Cover, April 2011. Inverness Castle

Scottish Field Magazine Cover - April 2011

Just out is the latest issue (April 2011) of the Scottish Field magazine. There is a lot of competition out there but I made it on to the cover again, this time with an photograph of Inverness Castle and daffodils beside the River Ness. So, a big thank you to the Scottish Field team and, [...]

Fast Castle, Scottish Borders

Fast Castle, near St Abbs, Scottish Borders, Scotland.

One castle that didn’t make my top ten favourite Scottish Castles is Fast Castle, in the Scottish Borders near St Abbs. Snowdrops – Galanthus

Snowdrops - Galanthus

Seeing the first Snowdrop of the year always brings to mind the phrase “Hope Springs Eternal”. The first sign of Spring, the rising of the sap, good times to come! These pictures were taken at Gargunnock House Garden, Gargunnock, near Stirling. Click on the images to either buy a print or licence for publication.

Arria by Andy Scott in Cumbernauld

The Arria sculpture by Andy Scott beside the A80, Cumbernauld.

Seen by 1000′s of motorists every day on the A80 at Cumbernauld, Arria is surely set to become one of Andy Scott’s best known works of art. I love it! Arria is 32ft tall and the design is based on the original meaning of Cumbernauld, the Gaelic “cumer nan allt”, which means the coming together [...]
