  1. Sign up for a free account with PhotoShelter first. Registering is free and simple. Sign up here. Why? See below.
  2. Click on either the Buy for publication button above the image, or the "Check Price" button just below image thumbnails in a gallery or your search results.
  3. Under the "Downloads" tab, choose the license most suited to your use of the image to receive a quotation.
  4. If the price is acceptable, click the "Add and Checkout" button. Or, to license other images, click the "Add to Cart" button. (Access your Cart Your Cart from the menu at the top the page).
  5. You are now required to agree to the PhotoShelter standard terms and then, once the fee is paid, the image will be made available for download.
    1. Image format and resolution?

    2. High-resolution images downloads are at the pixel dimensions specified below the main image page and supplied as watermark free jpgs. All images originate from a 16bit TIFF file and are saved as best quality jpgs.
    3. The original 16bit TIFF file is available on special request.

What do you mean by "licence" and how do you arrive at a price for image use

  1. When you buy an image from Scot-image you are in fact purchasing a licence to use the image, much like the way you licence software rather than buying it outright.
  2. All available images on Scot-image are licenced as Rights-Managed (RM).
  3. A Rights-Managed licence is tailored to your needs and priced accordingly. For instance, an image licence for use in UK distributed brochure at a 1/4 page size and a print run of a 1000 will be cheaper than the licence for a USA brochure at 1/4 page and a print run of 100,000.
  4. The Scot-image price calculator allows you to input your licence requirements and will quote you a price
  5. It's not as complicated as it sounds! But if you need any help or the calculator does not work for you, just email or give me a call. I'm here to help!
